Snow Leopard and SSD
Dec 10My old HD was not on fit, so I decided to change it, but at this point, choose a new HD with mechanical parts, having some money to spend, is not a good idea.
I’ve looked for some SSD drives and after a quick research about performances I was ready to buy the Intel X25-M 80G, but the bad new is that Intel has retired temporary the driver due to a bug with the BIOS. So I’ve looked for an alternative not so expensive with a good performace and I found the Kingston SSDnow V+ 128G with price around 350 CHF (around 350$).

I bought this one and I received it yesterday
I’m really lazy and to avoid to re-install a new copy of Snow Leopard on the new drive, I’ve mirrored the old one with SuperDuper! in a couple of hours and after that I’ve replaced it with the new SSD.
The result is that the system is really much faster than the previous with a normal 7200rpm HD.
Here a video showing how fast is the system with a SSD.
My Macbook Pro has the following configuration: Intel Core2Duo 2.66GHz, 4GB Ram DDR3 1067MHz and the Kingston SSDnow V+ 128G.
